and are receptive to it. It
is the result of a joint
effort by General Motors and
the American Medical
Association. (Suitable for

high/middle school)
The Flintstone Kids-
A "Just Say No" Special -
(S-7) - 23 minutes - Peer
pressure is the # 1 reason
most kids start using drugs.
Many kids end up using drugs
or doing other things they
know they shouldn’t, not
because they want to, but
because they don’t know how
to stand up to peer
pressure. This video
represents an opportunity to
discuss peer pressure with
grade school students. It
will help prepare them for
their pre and early
adolescent years, when peer
pressure is most intense and
young people are most
vulnerable to the influence
of peers. It deals primarily
with marijuana. (Suitable

Chemical People telecasts,
this video is a fast-paced
catalyst for discussion.

purpose. All play their

about his speech. It is
personal and horrifying. It
is a message for teens

Designer Drugs -
(S-12) - 28 minutes - This
program, moderated by Phil
Donahue, consists of two
principal elements: factual
information provided by a
panel of experts and
provocative questions and
statements designed to spark
animated discussion. The
synthetic drugs manufactured
by unqualified and
unsupervised "chemists" are
a growing menace- and not
only to those who use their
products, for these home
labs are liable to explode
or contaminate the regional
water supply or air.
Specialists appearing on the
program include Dr. J.
William Langston,
neurologist at the Santa
Clara Medical Center, an
agent of the U.S. Drug
Enforcement Agency and "Dr.
Shock", an unreconstructed
designer druggist who
appears unmoved by the
program’s footage of
permanently brain-damaged
buyers of a "bad batch" of
drugs. The message of the
program- Ignorance is even
more abundant on the street
than drugs. (Suitable for
high school)
Eddie Was Here-(S-13)-
34 minutes- True life drama
of a teenager’s battle with
alcohol & other drugs. Eddie
was here and now he’s not.
Eddie didn’t have the
benefit of a video like
this… You have to wonder…
why would a youngster with
love, good looks, & talent
throw it away? Video is the
perfect trigger to help
young people examine
relationships, identify peer
pressure, recognize danger
signs, and see the
consequences of substance
abuse. (Suitable for high
school)
Sooper Puppy: Drink,
Drank, Drunk - (S-14) -
16 minutes- This features
puppet character, Baxter
Puppy, who while searching
for his favorite bone,
falls, under the influence
of a couple of neighborhood
"characters" who pressure
him into attending a party
where "spiked" punch is
served. The next day Baxter
feels awful! He turns to his
wise old Grandpaw for
enlightenment on the dangers
of alcohol use. It
illustrates the dangerous
effects of alcohol on the
body and mind and clarifies
the importance of saying,
"NO", to alcohol and of
staying away from those who
would encourage its use.
(Suitable for
Kindergarten-4th grades)
Sooper Puppy: Flying
High - (S-15) - 17
minutes - Baxter wants to
fly, but when he goes
looking for his flying cape,
he finds temptation instead.
The bumbling and mischievous
Grizzle and Stoops try to
convince him that he can
really fly "high" on drugs.
Through the story of
"Mortimer, The Flying
Turtle," Grandpaw teaches
Baxter and young viewers to
distinguish the difference
between real fun which
contributes to growth and
strength, and fake fun which
is an illusion manufactured
by drugs, and also to
appreciate that success in
life requires work and
imagination, not
medications. (Suitable for
K-4th grades)
Sooper Puppy: Puff of
Smoke - (S-16) - 17
minutes-This enlightening
program gives children the
information they will need
to say, "NO" to smoking.
Having mistaken Big John’s
cigarette smoke for a fire,
Baxter ruins the cigarettes
with water. When Baxter
attempts to replace the pack
for his friend, Grandpaw
questions his actions. As
Grandpaw relates the story
of a young puppy with a
weakness for cookies, Baxter
is taught an important
lesson in the dangers of
nicotine addiction. Young
viewers learn to understand
the physical and mental
effects of cigarette smoking
in a way they can easily
understand and cope with the
pressures of advertisers and
peers who attempt to make
smoking appear attractive.
They are also shown how
positive peer pressure can
be used to help friends quit
smoking. (Suitable for K-4th
grades)

Straight Talk About
Drug Abuse - (S-21) - 16
minutes - Drug abuse is
perhaps the most wide-spread
disease there is because it
